#1   Job Summary – Assistant Store Manager – Part-Time - Seasonal

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to get into retail management and gain essential management skills required in today’s retail environment, while getting paid and working at a great summer venue. Seashore Trolley Museum has a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence and the hired associate will receive hands on training in all areas of management, including but not limited to:

  • Inventory: purchasing, tracking, ordering, receiving, counting and reconciling
  • Merchandising/Visual: How to display, rotate, set sales and stock for the best profits
  • Human Resources: Interviewing, Hiring, Training, required forms and basic guidelines
  • Bookkeeping: Balancing, tracking shortages, recording all sales and transactions
  • Customer Service: Ensure checklists are followed; provides great service for guests.
  • Personnel: Employee issues, training, coordination; assign tasks and create schedules  
  • Retails sales: basic sales, suggestive selling, up selling…This is a selling assistant manager position
  • Multi-Tasking: Balancing customers with managerial jobs
  • Budgeting: How to set a budget and monitor it to reach and exceed yearly goals
  • Loss Prevention: Tips and tools for safe guarding inventory
  • Operations: Overseeing the basic operations and maintenance of the Visitors Center.
  • Safety & Security: Ensuring all tasks are complete and the building is secure and safe
  • Teams: Creating and supervising a self-directed team environment
  • POS: Using a real-time POS, maintain inventory and website, monitor sales, etc.
  • Marketing: Creating marketing campaigns, databases and tracking sales

Minimum Qualifications:  (Must meet these requirements)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to handle some lifting and physical activity and able to stand for extended periods
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Neat, professional appearance
  • Self-direction
  • Ability to work alone
  • Outstanding ethics and moral integrity

Other Skills Desired:   

  • Retail/Sales experience - preferred, but not mandatory
  • Strong communication skills (Oral and Written)
  • Strong computer skills (previous use with a POS, excel, word) &/or propensity to learn quickly

#2  Job Summary – Visitor Center Associate – Part-Time - Seasonal

If your friendly and like to meet new people, this is a great summer opportunity at a great place!  You will provide great customer service to visiting guests and members; ring up sales, process payments and help Seashore Trolley Museum maintain our Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence!

Main duties include:

  • Greeting each customer pleasantly, answer questions and provide information about the museum.
  • Ringing up store sales and processing transactions quickly and accurately with a real-time POS
  • Offering and processing membership or renewals to each guest
  • Count money in cash drawer at opening and/or closing accurately
  • Open, unpack and price merchandise, stock shelves and store overstock with direction from management.
  • Complete daily task list of general maintenance, such as sweeping, dusting, maintaining our refreshment station, etc.
  • Lock and secure visitors center and museum

Minimum Qualifications:  (Must meet these requirements)

  • High School diploma or GED

Hourly Compensation based on experience - Open Sun – Sat ~ 10 -5, Memorial Day – Columbus Day

Training begins in April - weekend & holiday availability a must, open weekends only in Early May and Late October.
