About the Museum

Seashore Trolley Museum proudly continues the legacy of its founders by maintaining and sharing our world-class transit collections and knowledge with you.  Our exhibits and guides call attention to the technological, aesthetic, and historically significant characteristics of our collections.

Our Main Campus is at 195 Log Cabin Road, Kennebunkport, Maine 04046. Our Satellite campus is the National Streetcar Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Take a ride on our heritage railroad in a vintage trolley from the early 1900s. Explore three carhouses filled with beautiful, restored trolleys and several other precious transit artifacts around our outdoor campus. Our world-renowned collection includes vehicles from almost every major city in the United States that had streetcar systems, as well as from across the world. From the omnibus, to electric streetcars, buses, light rail vehicles, and rapid transit cars, we’ve got them all.

Visit our Restoration Shop where you can view many cars in the process of maintenance or comprehensive restoration. If you would like a snack or to shop for a memento of your visit, stop in at the Museum Store. We carry a wide variety of transit themed clothing, games, puzzles, books and other souvenirs to purchase for yourself or as a gift for a special person. Enjoy our beautiful grounds and picnic areas. It is our goal to provide a relaxing, fun and educational place to enjoy by yourself or with family and friends.

These vehicles tell an epic story.  That story is about cities and towns across our nation and abroad. It’s about individual lives expanding and it’s about leisure and work.  It’s about how technological advancements are recognized.  It represents the rise and fall and resurgence of the streetcar industry.  The collection demonstrates how the past informs the present and guides the future.   It offers tangible examples of craftsmanship and hard work and core values.  It is evidence of the importance of preserving and restoring artifacts that bring history to life.

Because dogs are part of the family, we are dog-friendly.  Most of our special events are for all ages, and some are evening parties for age 21+ .   Details at  Calendar of Events.
